Welcome to my blog! Thanks for taking a look. :)

Practice safe soap!  Always wear protection.  ;)

My name is Denisse and I am a soap-aholic.  For reals.  Everyone I talk to about my hobby is fascinated, or at least pretends to be, so I figured it would be a good idea to share my thoughts and findings here since almost every person I talk to wants to learn more about making soap.

Let me start off by saying that soapmaking is a wonderful hobby.  I love it.  It makes me happy in so many different ways.  However, it also gets expensive very quickly.  Ask me how I know.  In the beginning, I went overboard buying every single soapmaking item I could find.  I can honestly say that I've spent thousands of dollars making soap with all kinds of fancy doodads and ingredients.  I've gotten to the point now where I've realized I can make some pretty kickass soap without top-of-the-line fancy stuff, which is what this blog is all about.  Money's also really tight right now since I'm between jobs and am Living La Vida Broke-a.  This is why I decided to go with the name "Broke-Ass Bisbee Soaper."  Please don't call me BABS for short, since I have neither the schnoz nor the vocal talent to live up to the name Babs.  :P  Hope you gain some useful insight from my blog and that you enjoy reading it.  I'm excited to share my hobby and thoughts with you.  SQUEEEEE!!!  Let the soaping begin!!!  :D

  3. I like the blog. I have a blog too but it's just a general mom blog about any and everything. I haven't made soap for a few months but I want to get back to it as soon as it cools off a bit. I do it in my garage/shop.

  4. Thanks, Lisa! I had taken a break from soaping too and it feels so good to be back in the swing of things now. I soap in my kitchen, and the apartment I moved into has a kitchen the size of a closet so it's been a bit of a challenge. I'm back in the saddle, though! YEEHAW!

  10. I used to live in an apartment when I first started making soap. I had absolutely no room whatsoever. I used to cure my soap literally in my closet. Boy did my clothes smell good. And now I have a lot more room and I rarely make soap. Go figure.

  11. How funny! :D What a great idea to cure it in the closet! Killing two birds with one scented stone! I cure mine on the coffee table because that is the largest flat space in my place. I literally have about one square foot of counter space in the kitchen to work on. Talk about a tight squeeze!

  12. Just 'found' you and love your style, girl! I tried to comment on your last post but comments are off so i'll just tell ya here, that I couldn't agree more when it comes to unnecessary pricey soaping molds. My favorite mold is still the empty Pringles can and/or empty juice/milk containers. There you have it..and...those boxes you dumpster dived are perfect. I'd even go so far as to call them 'classy', you could make a whole theme out of it
